Caminante by Alida Torbay
Lebanese-Venezuelan sculptor Alida Torbay drew inspiration from the verses of the Spanish poet Antonio Machado for her latest creation: “Caminante no hay camino, se hace camino al andar” (Wayfarer, there is no path, the path is done by walking).
After the Cervantes Institute of Beirut, the wayfarer continues his journey. The bronze and resin sculptures of Alida Torbay will be revealed at MACAM. There, the artist merges her sculptural creations with videos and images projected all around, bringing to life an evocative world in the style of George Orwell to capture the visitor’s imagination.
The exhibition is curated by Angelo Gioé, a curator of Contemporary Art and Architecture. He is currently the director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Beirut.
