Mathaf - Arab Museum of Modern Art
Beirut and the Golden Sixties examines a romanticised era of global influence in Lebanon’s capital to highlight how collisions between art, culture and polarised political ideologies turned the Beirut art scene into a microcosm of larger regional tensions in Doha’s Mathaf - Arab Museum of Modern Art
Biennale de Lyon 2022
Illustrated with some of Lebanon’s greatest modern artworks, the exhibition revisits Beirut’s pre-Civil War times – an era often described as Lebanon’s “golden age”.
The exhibition displays four artworks from MACAM’s collection (Michel Basbous, Joseph Basbous, Salou Raouda Choucair, and Dorothy Salhab Kazemi), and over half of the 300 archival documents on display (posters, brochures, invitations, photos…) are from MACAM’s archives. We are honored to have contributed to this fascinating reading of Lebanon’s pre-war history.
