The exhibition “Beirut and the Golden Sixties: A Manifesto of Fragility” co-curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath is in Mathaf – Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, Qatar from March 17 until August 5, 2023. Illustrated with some of Lebanon’s greatest modern artworks, the exhibition revisits Beirut’s pre-Civil War times – an era often described as Lebanon’s “golden age”.
The exhibition displays four sculptures from MACAM’s collection (Michel Basbous, Joseph Basbous, Salou Raouda Choucair, and Dorothy Salhab Kazemi), and over half of the 300 archival documents on display (posters, brochures, invitations, photos…) are from MACAM’s archives. We are honored to have contributed to this fascinating reading of Lebanon’s pre-war history.
