Summer 2024 AT MACAM

The Little Artist Program for Summer Camps offers a delightful blend of art, friendship, and fun. Set within the inspiring studios of the museum, children have the opportunity to explore, experiment, and create their own masterpieces. Surrounded by captivating exhibits and a beautiful garden, the camp provides a stimulating environment for both indoor and outdoor activities.

The camp’s artistic themes are thoughtfully designed to suit different age groups. We strive to strike a balance between guiding our young artists and allowing them the freedom to express their unique individuality.

Little Artist Summer Camp Offers

Our summer camp activities are designed around two specific themes, including outdoor experiences, thematic museum visits, and hands-on workshops, providing the children with a well-rounded and immersive artistic journey.

Details

Duration: 4 hours of fun-packed activities.

Cost: $7 per child, all materials included.

Choose one of our two themes (eco-conscious or sculpture), and we will tailor the program based on the number of children, including recreational activities and breaks.

Theme 1 Eco-conscious Theme

Artistic activity 1: Painting with Nature

Mandala (ages 4-8) Children create nature-themed artwork using leaves and natural elements.

Landscape painting with surprising inks! (ages 9+) The material used is either picked from nature or upcycled for surprising effects

Artistic activity 2: Clay modeling

Bas-relief with Nature (ages 4-5) Stimulates creativity using natural elements and experimenting with different modeling techniques

Introduction to Pottery (ages 6-8) Initiates children to pottery by exploring coil technique with clay and creating reliefs or textures

Fantastical animals (ages 9+) It all starts with a drawing! Each child is then challenged to find interesting volumes

Children will experience the museum through the lens of explorers, with the theme of nature and the environment. 

Outdoor fun activity: Nature walk around the museum

From the Wall of Contemplation to our hilltop chapel, a memorable art and nature walk with sculptures and a breathtaking view

Theme 2 Sculpture Theme

Artistic activity 1: From 2D to 3D

Assemblage sculpture (ages 4-8) With abstract shapes, children can create beautiful and unique 3D artworks

Sculpting with paper (9+) Children can create architectural pieces from a flat surface

Artistic activity 2: Clay workshop

Bas-relief portrait (ages 4-5) Stimulates creativity using natural elements and experimenting with different modeling techniques

Sculpture with geometric shapes (ages 6-8) Introduces children to various clay working techniques, enhancing spatial cognition and creativity. 

Clay portrait and expression (ages 9+) Children express their identity through their unique self-portrait sculptures, fostering creativity and personal expression.

Our Services

  • • Water and Hydration

    All campers are required to bring a reusable water bottle. Water refill stations will be available throughout the day.

    • Settings from lunch breaks

    MACAM welcomes picnics. We can also arrange tables and chairs if needed.

    • Lunchboxes

    Campers can bring a packed lunch, including snacks and drinks. Please note that there are no refrigerators or microwaves available for camper use.

  • We offer a selection of healthy snacks at affordable prices, featuring fresh and high-quality ingredients. Special arrangements can be made in advance by choosing one of MACAM’s menus at least 3 days prior. We ensure everything is prepared fresh and in the desired quantity.

    Menu 1: $ 4 

    • Manouché zaatar (+veggies) or cheese

    • Carrots or cucumbers sticks

    • Fresh lemonade or fresh orange juice

    • Fruits (cut up apples or pears, bananas, peel-able oranges) or cereal/granola bar 

    Menu 2: $5.5

    • Whole-grain sandwiches - ham, turkey ham, egg, cheese  or labneh baladi (+ butter or margarine or mayo + veggies according to the child’s preference)

    • Carrots or cucumbers sticks

    • Fresh lemonade or fresh orange juice

    • Fruits (cut up apples or pears, bananas, peel-able oranges) or cereal/granola  bar

  • Children will participate in outdoor activities, so it is important to ensure their comfort and protection. 

    Sunscreen and Hat: Apply sunscreen in the morning before camp and provide additional sunscreen for reapplication during the day. Our camp staff will remind campers to reapply before going outside.

    Comfortable Clothes: Children may get their hands dirty and stain their clothes during creative workshops, so it is recommended to wear clothing that can get dirty.

    Shoes: Please do not send campers in open-toe shoes like flip flops or crocs, as they are not safe in the studio environment or for our outdoor activities.

    Note: We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or missing items. We strongly recommend that your child does not bring valuables to camp, such as cell phones, money, electronic games, personal listening devices, or toys. 

  • Reservation: at least 15 days in advance.

    Cancellation: at least 7 days in advance

  • Ample space for cars, buses and mini-buses

  • MACAM is located in Alita, within the Jbeil District. 

    To reach MACAM, you need to take the Qartaba exit from the coastal highway and then drive uphill for approximately 7 kilometers.
