About The Carrier of Wood

Hussein Nassouri used his passion, primitive creativity, and improvisation to transform a Volkswagen Beetle into his masterpiece, The Carrier of Wood. This artwork reflects his deep obsession with wood and was created over a span of six years, incorporating forty wood sculptures and numerous paintings.

What distinguishes this masterpiece is not only its distinction as the first wood-adorned car but also the spontaneous and instinctive process of its creation. Without any pre-planning or expectations, Nassouri allowed the materials to guide him, resulting in a natural and organic composition.

Using basic hand tools, Nassouri personally dismantled the car's interior, metalwork, and paintwork to bring about its transformation. The work was conducted on the streets, under natural conditions, in various cities. Piece by piece, he utilized more than 30 types of natural wood, meticulously crafting them together to achieve a harmonious and earthy aesthetic. This artwork showcases the artist's resourcefulness and his ability to transform reality into an authentic and visually pleasing dream.

The Carrier of Wood stands as a testament to Nassouri's creative brilliance and unwavering commitment to his craft. It symbolizes art on the move, embodying his ingenuity and passion for artistic expression.
