1951 – 2022

As a professor of sculpture at prestigious universities and a founding member of the Hamazkayin "Toros Roslin" Art Academy in Lebanon, Guléne was not only a dedicated mentor to emerging artists but also actively involved in national and international art fairs, festivals, and symposiums.

Gulène Torossian Der Boghossian confidently embraced her artistic vocation, driven by her deep belief in the power of representing reality to safeguard human freedom. Through her sculptures, she explores the duality between the human body and a transcendent ideal, seeking victory for the non-corporeal nature. Her work is a testament to the limitless possibilities offered by the human form, potentially reviving figurative art and contributing to the preservation of the artistic heritage.

About her Work

This artwork by Gulène Torossian Der Boghossian is part of a series of sculptures titled Mémoire d'érrance ("Wandering Memories"), which delves into the exploration of the human condition. Der Boghossian's sculptures depict wanderers, individuals who have been forced into exile and are journeying towards the unknown.

The sculpture consists of two parts that symbolize the connection between those who have departed and the void they have left behind. The curvaceous cut-out silhouette, adorned with enamel colors, represents the wandering figures, while the rusty and raw flat surface signifies the emptiness they have left in their wake.

“From the concept to the end, my idea was visualized and the exhibition created to bring together in a moment all my relatives and friends who have gone to seek peace under other skies. I’m waiting for the day of reunion. »
