Boutros Farhat

Boutros Farhat is a self-taught sculptor who embarked on his artistic journey in 1991. He later pursued his artistic development at the Russian center in Beirut.
With the support of the Ministry of Culture, he held his inaugural exhibition in 2005 in Jaj, his hometown situated in the Byblos district. In 2017, Boutros organized his second exhibition in Jaj, further showcasing his artistic growth and accomplishments.
In 2018, Boutros curated an exhibition at the University of Balamand, where he transformed the university halls into a captivating museum-like space.
Boutros's works have been featured both in Lebanon and internationally. He has actively participated in numerous group exhibitions and symposia, further expanding his artistic reach. Notably, in 2016, he received a prize in an exhibition organized by the Lebanese Artists Association at the UNESCO Palace.
About his Work
Boutros Farhat's preferred medium is carved stone, which he sources from both local and international origins. His artistic exploration encompasses a wide range of themes, including the Phoenicians, women, and duality.
In 1991, Boutros inaugurated the Boutros Farhat Museum in Jaj, dedicated to showcasing his extensive collection of artwork. The museum provides a space for both indoor and outdoor exhibits, featuring a remarkable collection of 185 sculptures. These sculptures vary in size, ranging from 50 cm to 3 meters in height.
In 2017, Boutros published "Dream of the Rock," a comprehensive monograph that documents his artistic journey and showcases his entire body of work since 1991. The publication serves as a testament to his artistic vision and creative evolution.
