about MACAM
Modern and Contemporary Art Museum
Anne-Sophie Menet is a French eco-artist who creates sculptures and site-specific installations. Her work centers on the fundamental concept of shelter, encompassing both physical and emotional aspects.
A refuge, figurative or symbolic, to protect — and celebrate — what is [still] alive around us. She works with natural and renewable materials found in her environment.
Here, she sculpts using earth entrusted to her by individuals who shared the story of “their” land, which carries their hopes and relationships with the living world.
Her sculptures embody these narratives. Alongside them, site-specific installations respond directly to the Lebanese context.
This exhibition was created during a residency at Zico House (Part One) and MACAM (Part Two), with the support of Artemed.

Our passion goes beyond art; it's a celebration of life and respect for individuals. We believe in the freedom of conscience, the power of speech, and the magic of creativity and peace. At MACAM, we recognize the profound impact of arts and cultural production on society. Join us in this journey of discovery, where the past meets the present, and creativity knows no bounds. Welcome to MACAM—where every sculpture has a story, and every visitor is part of our artistic family!
Step into our museum, perched on a hill with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the enchanting Adonis Valley. Our story began in 2013 when two factories—one crafting colored wax crayons and school boards, the other weaving multi-layered craft paper bags—were revitalized and transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity.
Here, you'll discover more than just art—it's an adventure! Wander through the outdoor space, surrounded by nature, or step into the indoor gallery, home to an incredible collection of Lebanese sculptures and installations. The Panorama of Sculpture in Lebanon, our permanent exhibition, unfolds a century of artistic brilliance with over 400 artworks.
MACAM is more than a museum; it's a vibrant creative hub! Join us for art competitions and hands-on workshops for all ages, where creativity knows no bounds. Each visit guarantees a unique journey, thanks to our ever-evolving art collection that invites you to see the world from a fresh and inspiring perspective. Embracing the spirit of creativity, MACAM proudly hosts an art residency program, nurturing inspiration and supporting contemporary productions.
